How to fix a credit card/debt problem? Over a year and a half ago I was experiencing some difficulties in life and I also had to move. I ended up maxing out some of my first credit cards and got caught up in payments and never pulled through. I am not sure what the total of my debt is. It is probably about 1600 all together. The company I was with ended up getting bought out eventually, and eventually I got sent to collections. I heard people say that for that amount they're not going to sue me or anything but I'm not sure. I am still not financially stable otherwise I would've paid it off but I'm willing to try to work something out if it's for my benefit. Do collection agencies settle for a lesser amount or work out payment plans? I've heard people say not to bother paying them off for such a small amount because it will stay on my credit report for a while either way and it won't look good either way. Anyone have any tips or suggestions?
What’s the best way to fix my credit? I have debt that’s about 2 years old now that I haven’t made any payments on. I’m straightening my life out and I want to get back to the good credit I had going for the 5 years prior to my debt problems. It all happened in one bad year. I haven’t incurred any more debt, but I haven’t been able to make any payments either. It’s time to stop avoiding them and start paying up. But I would like to find someone who can cut out most of those late fees and make a deal with the companies (there are three to which I owe.) NO ADVERTISING HERE PLEASE! I don’t want company responses. I want to hear from people who’ve fixed there debts already or who are fixing them now. Thanks!
i am in debt with payday loan store how can i try to fix the problem without wage garnishment? is there an installment plan were the interect will not increase
What would it take to make cuts in government spending to rid us of the national debt? You know that feeling get when you pay off a major bill and now you have extra money to spend that won't send you into further debt? What would it take to get our elected officials to spend our money that way? Social Security won't be able to meet its obligations soon. The national debt is at $8,644,121,120,053.27 today. Federal spending is $2.47 trillion, but out income is only $2.2 trillion. Doesn't that seem ridiculous? The prescription drug program is supposed to cost about $750B over ten years. We spent that much in INTEREST on the debt in the last two years alone! Just think, with no debt, we could outright afford this program, or we could not tax people and let them use the money as they see fit. How do we act on the debt? Do we spend less? Tax more? Continue to spiral into more debt; debt that is owned by foreign governments that could strategically "attack" us by refusing to finance our runaway spending. Should we fix this problem and if so, how?
National debt when we go broke what will happen? Do the math 5 trillon divided by 300 million people = 16,000 worth of debt for each person. Then you have to take the amount of people working. Who knows that number. It is a server domino effect. Whats going to fix this problem. Amercia needs to pull its head out of its ass. We dont need to produce jobs we need to produce products. Good products that other countries will buy. I take Hundai for example. Less than 10 years ago there cars were mostly crap. They have a car now that is right up there with Honda. The deal is Gross domestic product needs to rise. Because money is just a tool of trade. Its all just numbers. I think some people need to go back to the barter system to get a refresher course. Money dosent grow on trees. It does for the treasury , and congress for some reason. If this problem is to be solved it needs it needs to happen soon. Here is an Idea Stop making more money back your money with something and make it so congress cant spend more money than they take in.
Could this be the Governments answer to the populations debt problems? UK credit card debt is currently standing at more than the Nations total annual wages and getting worse. The slippery slope is getting steeper. People use cards to buy things they dont need, cant afford and are predominately Chinese consumer fodder, sold on the High Street at huge profit, which is over priced, over packaged and produced by a despicable regime. So let the Government freeze all credit card debt, abolish cards and have individuals convert credit card debt into personal loans through the banks at a fixed rate say 2% over base. This way the banks get their money back over a structured term with fair interest, consumers get out of debt and stop paying the banks over inflated interest rates. The banks have had it all their own way for a long time now its time for sanity to return to interest rates. That would be responsible Government looking after the interests of the Nation and its population, not just its friends in Threadneedle Street.
How do you get out of debt faster? I'm in desperate need of help. My issue is that it doesn't seem like my credit card debt is going anywhere. I can't afford to pay much more than I am each month and it's always more than the minimum. I have applied for the consolidation loans and they all tell me that they can't approve it because I have too much debt. And that if I get my debt down then they could give me the loan. This sounds ridiculous to me because if I could get my debt down I wouldn't need the loan. The credit cards that I apply for to do a balance transfer never give me a high enough limit to transfer all of the debt. It's about 12,000 between 3 credit cards. Does anyone understand what I'm going through and can anyone give me real advice on how to fix the problem? Note: I do expect those worthless people to give me advice like stop spending or something just as useless. I kindly ask you not to waste my time or yours. Thank you to everyone else who really can give some advice that actually help my situtation.:) Also I don't use the cards anymore. If I do, I put the money back with the next payment.
debt consolidation, bankrupcy(chapter7 or 13) which is better for fixing my credit problems? have plenty bills that have went unpaid because i made a stupid decsion to get 4 payday loans. now i need help cleaning up my credit HELP!!!!
Can anyone offer advice on debt problems? My wife and I are 25 years old, we have over $50,000 in revolving debt, paying an average apr of 15%. We have decent credit as we pay our bills on time, but we are not able to get a loan because of our credit available / credit in use ratio. We pay over $1500 per month just in credit cards and pay out a total of $4500 per month in regular fixed bills, not including gas and food and entertainment. At this point we are just trying to continue to make our payments on time, but we have been living off of this credit; borrowing from peter to pay paul and now we are reaching all of our credit limits. What is the answer to manage this without bankruptcy? We work as much as possible and have no assets to sale or pull equity from. Our net household income annually is $55000. Any advice (other than suicide, lol)?

College student needs help working out his credit card debt (REALLY BADLY). Anyone out there? So I'll paint a quick picture of the scenario I'm in right now. At 18 I got out of hand with credit cards (never really had anyone there for me to say "You're an idiot"). At about 19.5 I lost the job I was working while attending school that was allowing me to pay these credit cards (3 of them) and eventually, somehow someway, actually stopped payments altogether (yes, i know how stupid I am). Long story short, I'm in trouble. I'm 21 and know that I need to start establishing/rebuilding my credit. But I don't even know of a way to assess all my debt. I'll get a letter every now and then about how I owe (x amount)...total I'm about $9,000 in the hole. So basically, can anyone offer some sort of advice (kindly worded please...I'm in school I get lectured enough :c)) as to where to START fixing my debt/credit problems. If it were up to me I'd get a single loan and repay the debt off with that thus having one source of debt to worry about. W/ no credit that's not really an option.. THANKS! Where can I get a low interest loan for debt consolidation? I have about $10,000 in credit card debt. The cards have been distroyed for about 9 months. I always pay more than the minimum amount due, never late payments etc. I cannot seem to make any headway. I pay almost $400 a month combined and it hardly does a thing. I have tried to apply for low/no interest cards to switch the balances but because I have too much "revolving credit" they turn me down. Then each inquiry into my credit to try and solve my problem also causes red flags on my credit report. My credit score is around 660 last time I checked. I am not a deadbeat; I am working really hard to fix this. I contacted debt management and they told me because I have decent interest rates and I am making payments they cannot help me. Is there some moderately weathly person who would personally lend me money at a low interest rate??? I just dont know what else to do.
I have gotten into a car wreck and im in debt with a credit card and hospital bills what can i do to help me.? I lost everything, Now i am in debt with my credit card and i am stuck with the rest of the car payments not only that i have hospital bills.I would love for some imput on what steps i could take to help fix my problem.
Where can I find debt advice? I am looking for someone ( I am willing to pay a fee) that will just talk to me about my current financial situation. I just need a fresh perspective. I don't need to hire anyone to solve my problems or "Fix a budget" or give them my check so they can pay my bills. I already know how to do that. I just want to talk to someone. I keep hitting brick walls and I just want to talk to an outsider with a new look. Maybe tell me what I am missing? I know there is a solution to my financial problem, I'm just not coming up with it. Any ideas?

You believe a democrat will actually put together Universal Health Care within the next 4 years? Before fixing one problem you need to address another problem. The Debt and lack of available money. I support Universal Health Care but the current financial structure would not be able to support it. I do not find this a realistic goal and what the country needs now is cut backs not expansion.
How can I fix my credit? My credit is horrible, I went through problems with 2 banks, old bills that never got paid and wasnt my fault and 1 hospital my debt is close to $3000. How can I clear up this debt if I hardly make money to put in my gas tank, and how can i fix my credit?
What happen if Someone Run Away Credit Card Debt? I have a friend that have a credit card problems and ask for advise. The story is he has a credit card from one of the bank but wants to go back to to his country and he doesn't want to pay for his debt with the credit card company. He owes a lot but do not have money to pay it so he just want to leave it. What can be done about predatory lending practices in the student loan industry? More and more students are graduating with loads of debt from "private lenders" (ex. Sallie Mae, Wells Fargo, Xpress Loans) who make loan terms unclear, and repayment plans ambiguous. These loans can rarely be consolidated, have high interest rates, are non-dischargable in bankruptcy, and have very high payments. Congress is realizing that something must be done to alleiviate the burden on the students that fell victim to these lending practices by the banks. What remedies do you think should be allotted these students? How do we fix problems within private lending so students can pay their loans while still maintaining a decent quality of life?
How can I fix my credit permanately ? I'm twenty five years old and still in college. I have about $8,000 in credit card debt. I have about 9 maxed out / over the limit credit cards. I have been unable to make my credit card payments for about 8 months due to being out of work , moving, and other personal problems. A couple of my credit cards have been charged off and I don't know what to do. My family can't help, and this has DESTROYED my credit. About a year ago my beacon score was about 640, now I can't get approved for anything. This is horrible, needless to say, lesson learned. I just want to have one regular credit card and maybe a gas card from here on out. I don't know if I should try to consolidate my debt, give up and not worry about it for three more years until I get out of school, but then I have to start paying off my student loans, HELP !!!! Nobody can give me any answers that I need. I just want a fresh start. I want to buy a house someday.
Debt collector thinks that my husband is dead...? Will this affect our credit? He has $700 charges on his sears credit card, but has had absolutely no late payments, and pays each bill accordingly as they arrive. The last payment he had made, the cashier said the account was closed out and supposedly fixed the problem. But we just got a message the next day after work from debt collectors saying they need to speak with the representative of his estate of his $700 debt to sears, and a letter saying they needed all the money now. I was right there when he bought the item, and it was merely a few months ago and I see him pay his bills every month so i know this isn't right, but do circumstances like these impair your credit? ... affect our credit as far as after it gets resolved. and how would they even get it into the system that he's dead???

How do you suggest we get this country back on track? How can we fix our economy, the housing market, the huge debt, the war in Iraq, social security, health care, security flaws, environmental issues, diplomacy, our relations with other countries, American's jobs being sent to China, poverty, illegal immigrants, border security, education and the corrupt government who we are trusting to fix our problems. How are we going to fix all of these issues and get our country back after 7 years of complete incompetence in our government? KRR- I know the sky is not falling but how are we going to fix these problems?
i need help, i know what would fix the problem but i dont think it will happen...? my mom has a business and i help her. the problem is that its not making money and there is no cash to pay wholesalers, other expenses with the business. its a sole pro. and if she declares bankruptcy they would take her house i believe im not sure. she has a home equity and the collateral is her house. the business has no loans, just debt. she wants out but doesnt know if she can make it out without losing her home. what should she do
How Do I get myself out of debt?? I have a matter my oldest son ran up a major credit card bill, my husbands car dealership has gone out of business, a tornado hit our house, i am currently pregnant with a child who will have severe back problems, my second son dropped out of high school to help with bills and the business. I have already dipped into my childs 20000 dollar college fund and we are in debt up to our eyeballs with hospital bills, credit card bills, backed up insurance, and fixing our home. How can I fix my problem??? Well where should I begin. I'm looking for some help as to what I should do about my current situation. Here are the details. I went to a local college for 1 year before having to leave b/c of family/financial issues. During that time I accumulated some debt. Around $8,000 worth including unpaid student loan. I currently only work a PT job and am looking for something FT I still live at home and I just turned 24 Here is what I want to do but can seem to find anyone with good advice. I want to get a FT job, my own place, kill off my debt and attend school so that I can get myself a career in something I would love doing. How can I go about getting everything in order? I know it's going to be hard and I don't know where to start. Money is really tight in my family and my parents are going through a divorce so any money from them is out of the question. How can I turn my life around? I've seen so many of the people i've graduated with go on to great jobs, etc. PLEASE HELP!
Help please regarding paying old debts and trying to fix my credit. Knowledgeable answers appreciated!? I had impeccable credit for over 30 years, but a little over a year ago, things started to go south, including the loss of my job. Needless to say, a very bad time in my life and I was unable to pay my bills for around a year. However life is better now, and I am now in the process of paying off all of my debts, after the not-so-pleasant experience of having to talk to & work with all of the creditors. I was just curious if, when people check your credit rating, they ever take into account all of the years of GOOD credit vs. the short period (in comparison) of time where there were problems, or will the 1 bad year screw-up the rest of my life? I've been reading a lot of the postings here on YA, and truthfully am a little frightened that even after paying off all of my old debts, it won't mean a hill of beans and I will still have bad credit. I know about it staying on your report for 7 years, but since I am older, this is serious to me. Any encouraging words would be appreciated. A further note - I have already talked to and worked with all of my creditors and have almost completed the process of paying off my bills, so I do not need to talk with credit counselors or get loans. I was really mainly curious if your old very good credit rating was ever considered when you are trying to build your credit rating back up. I'm just scared of going 7 years without any credit at all.
Which Canidate has a plan to provide affordable health care end homelesness and reduce the debt .? Which one has offered a plan to insure that people can afford to run the heater this winter and pay for prescriptions needed to stay alive .Social security benefits have not kept up with inflation . We have the largest homeless population short of war torn nations and third world poverty . We have the largest debt in history and no end in sight to spending and a growing government . We have created a justice system that has incarcerated more of its people then any free society around the world . We have 30,000,000 people right at the poverty line and 15,000,000 below it . Who is going to fix the major problems facing America while people argue over abortion ,gun control , executions ,and if gays should be allowed to marry. Those issues pail in comparison to the 40 million Americans who need something to change in America in order to crawl out of poverty and despair . Seems the poor can get medi-care to cover a happy pill so they do not feel the pain of living in despair . CHANGE IT.
