Debt Problems

How can I fix my problem???

Well where should I begin. I'm looking for some help as to what I should do about my current situation. Here are the details. I went to a local college for 1 year before having to leave b/c of family/financial issues. During that time I accumulated some debt. Around $8,000 worth including unpaid student loan. I currently only work a PT job and am looking for something FT I still live at home and I just turned 24 Here is what I want to do but can seem to find anyone with good advice. I want to get a FT job, my own place, kill off my debt and attend school so that I can get myself a career in something I would love doing. How can I go about getting everything in order? I know it's going to be hard and I don't know where to start. Money is really tight in my family and my parents are going through a divorce so any money from them is out of the question. How can I turn my life around? I've seen so many of the people i've graduated with go on to great jobs, etc. PLEASE HELP!

  1. the answer is simple, doing it is not so easy. First thing is to get a full time job or another part time job. Use the money to pay off your debts, don't spend money on things you can do without for 6 months to a year, like internet service, cable TV, smoking, etc. Next you save money for college, find a place to live close to the college so you don't have to have a car. Find a part time job so you can work your way through college. It's up to you, the more you do without now the sooner you pay bills and get into college. ^^^^^^^^^^^^ Buddha says that where you are is a result of your thinking. Einstein said to do the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome is insanity,, you have to change your thinking. If you don't change your thinking in 5 yrs you will be as you are today. Don't blame others, don't try to find an excuse, just change your life and your thinking.
  2. What kind of job are looking for? Or what kind of job are you interested in? And how much do you need to survive? The goal in looking for a job, is to keep on looking. Try to stay positive, and upbeat when you go on interviewing. How far did you go in College? Go to your Community College, and ask them for help. Let them make your resume, and application.Apply for FAFSA, and take one or two classes. Then thru that College find and internship. Just to get your foot in the door.( Just remember not to close the door while your foot is in the doorway)
  3. Very tough situation, and I have to say you made a huge mistake quitting college. Money IS NOT a hinderance to going to college, and if a family situation was combined I still don't see that as an excuse. You put yourself in a very bad situation doing that. You tied your well being too closely to your families state of affairs, and unnecessarily. I don't mean to be harsh, but maybe someone else reads this and it helps them not make that critical mistake. You need to get a full time job and move away from home and stop tying yourself so closely to your families financial situation. You moving out saves them money. Get a full time job and take classes at night and get your degree and keep moving forward, looking for better work. You're going to have to go to college part time now, and that's ok, it just takes a lot longer. You have to work full time to deal with that debt.
