How is more debt going to dig us out of debt?
Why does Pelosi think that if you take on more debt, it will solve the debt problem? http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20080506/pl_nm/pelosi_economy_dc

- Because she's a dropout Hippie who grew up into a politician. She has obviously NEVER had to balance a budget or worry about living within one. Her rich, fat-cat hubby pays for anything she wants.
- It's the democratic change you always wanted but were afarid you weren't going to get!!! A little over two years ago: 1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high; 2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon; 3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%. Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen: 1) Consumer confidence plummet; 2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon; 3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase); 4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses); 5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars; 6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure. America voted for change in 2006, and we got it! Remember it's Congress that makes law not the President. He has to work with what's handed to him.
- What do you suggest she do? so much money is sitting in hidden bank accounts of the super wealthy. The best answer would have been for them to not get government bail outs & to pay their fair share of taxes. Republicans brought on these problems Nancy Polosi was just brave enough to come in to try to help clean up the mess. I think the rich finally see that when poor people have no money to spend it really does hurt the enonomy.
- I'm afraid that you misunderstand a basic concept of economics. Prior to the Bush administration, many people, including myself, thought that deficit spending and piling on more debt was harmful to the economy. However, Mr. Chaney reminded us that President Reagan taught us that deficits did not matter! I think Ms. Pelosi is indebted to Mr. Chaney for this insight, as she once believed that fiscal responsibility was the correct path but now is free to follow the Repub's lead on drunken sailor spending.
