In your opinion, would Communism help solve many problems in the US?
Or will it solve some problems such as racism, overpaid CEO's, debt, terrorism, crime etc,.... Just trying to find out what most people think of Communism here in the states. No. How can Communism solve racism? People hate other races because they want to, regardless of being rich or poor. Mmmmm, over-paid CEO's eh? Are you footing their pay-checks? Is any taxpayer? No, the corporation, they work for pays out the checks, not you. LMAO! Crime? Communism will prevent crime? Where the heck have you lived your whole life? One of the most well-known serial killers in history, lived in the USSR, dude! Oh man! Do you need a an education or what? How old are you anyway? 15? Don't you know how Americans feel about Communism? Remember the Cold War? Guess not. Americans despise Communism, and will NOT be controlled! We are a free society, and if the day ever comes that we are not, we will then be able to say, "Our forefathers who created this country for freedom against control, by a government, died for NOTHING!" ---I thought I was asking a question, if I wanted to give you my opinion, believe me I would have worded my question a little differently you moron.

- True Communism will never work. It goes against human nature. Even in Russia, there was an elite during the Soviet years and common people had to wait in line for hours to buy food. It won't solve any of the problems you list.
- Ask the Russians what we think of communism.
- Communism can't work.
- No. Communism was a complete and total failure. Eastern Europe didn't build that wall to keep the capitalist American workers OUT, they built it to keep the Communist government's slaves in.
- It's a failed system. It has failed everywhere it's tried. It creates a total oppression of all the people. If you want to continue living the life you are now and writing whatever dribble you want on Yahoo Answers than i suggest you throw away your support of communism. If you want to see communism first hand, go visit north korea for a few weeks and come back and tell me what you think.
- Communism would just make everything worse, HELLO! Communism just does not work, even China had to bring in Capitalism. Every country that had or has Communism is basically worse off then they were before.
- Yes. It would shut all the people who complain about the government up pretty fast. The gulags would be full of those who dared to criticize glorious leader and the party. And it would simplify elections. No more hard decisions: vote for the list of people on the ballot or else! And envy would be a thing of the past since everyone would be eking out the same miserable poverty level existence. I can hardly wait. How about you?
- No. I think that it is defeated when human nature comes into play. There will always be those who put forth more effort than others. Eventually, this will cause resentment because those who do not contribute their share will be reaping equal benefits of those who do. Those who do, will...leave, trample, overcome, revolt, whatever. This is one of the main reasons why capitalism works. It rewards those who take risks. If somebody doesn't, well, they just don't reap any rewards.
- Communism can't solve anything. All it would do is make the crime rate skyrocket. Socialism mixed with a system of checks and balances and wage caps will solve a great deal of problems in the USA.
- Would Communism in its PUREST form work? Maybe. Problem is, Communism, as well as other types of systems in the world will not work because people will still take advantage of it. Those in the former Soviet Union kept money in their pockets. Even here in America our Democratic Republic has flaws because there are people who became rich try to make sure no one else can. Right now, our system CAN be the best IF it is used properly. Right now, it isn't.
- True Communism, in the Marxist style, would be great. A utopia where everyone is equal. Unfortunately, it goes against human nature. Americans are capitalist, and that is just the way it is going stay.
- It would solve some but it would cause others. It solved all those you mention above including disease. Advancement in certain fields would grind to a halt. Quality of living on average would be lower. The main reason communism failed is that capitalism exist. If the whole world was communist, It would survive. People are greedy and selfish by nature. If they think someones life is better than theirs, they would become unhappy. Material goods are relative. If you had an old nintendo you would be happy unless someone else has the new PSP 2.
- During times like these in America, communism can't, shouldn't and won't be brought into context. Nothing would be gained and far too much would be lost.
- At least us workers at the bottom of the pile get something with capitalism. With communism and it's political elite who romanticize about the peasant classes. I would be kept in my place and get very little for my hard work and no doubt have a severely reduced life expectancy. Democratic capitalist society's with a hint of socialism are the only country's that work well and are stable. In my opinion anyway.

Got to you, did I? Perhaps I have helped you to think for yourself? There is a first time for everything, Young one.
- The US groomed it's arrogant stance on it's hatred of russia because it was "communist" it also likes to insult canada regularly we are a social country the US don't like that either.... We are insulted because all our people even the poor get medicare.... The US thinks that helping each other and consideration for the unwealthy is a sin. Compared to what they call democracy communism would be a vast improvement.
- It will solve nothing. Communism is based on a fundamentally incorrect premise: that labor is the sole creator of value. But it is evident that trade also creates value (otherwise, people would not bother doing it). Once that is understood, the entire thesis falls apart. It is inexplicable why Marx blew this -- he referred to a paper on the subject in Das Kapital. But blow it he did, and that is the most expensive mistake that anyone has ever made in the entire history of the human race: the cost has run to trillions of dollars, and tens of millions of lives, and is continuing to increase every day.
- The Soviet Union proved totalitarianism is evil, but they proved nothing about communism. Cuba has done far more to make a good case for it. Marx was right, tho. It's inevitable, and it will happen after hyper-capitalism. It will happen in America. And we will finally have equal rights and justice.
- Communism in its true form would never work with the unenlightened "humanity" that populates the Earth at this time. It has never worked outside of convents and monasteries! (True communal living--from each according to his abilities, and to each according to his needs...) So, no, any form of "communism" that could ever be set up by any now existing government would not help. It is an economic plan, not a political one, and would just be bastardized by any current proponents of it. EDIT: And too many would fight to the death against it! The posters on Y!A can't even stand the thought of some socialism--too greedy! ......
- it never works. check history. thats what.
- cmmunism is great! will it work? um...no...and technicaly it scialism of whict comunism is a type.
- Many people seem to think that communism is a political system, but it is not. communism is an economic system. It has only ever been tried in this world`in conjunction with totalitarian, dictatorial, fascist types of political systems, and that is one of the reasons it did not work. The other major reason is that we are not evolved or enlightened enough in this world at the present time, to make such a system work...just like joey1207 said.
- At first: communism is an political system and an economic system. But mostly it is understood as the idea of Karl Marx. I think it is is scary to see how many people say that communism is bad without supporting their opinion with any fact. The most of your opinions are influenced by events in the history where political leader of communist states went "crazy" , but this doesn't make the whole system bad. I also think that many of you don't understand the difference between war communism, stalinism, Marxism, Maoism and the "real communism". To the point some people made before about communism is not "fair" to everyone: the main idea of communism is that all people are equal - so communism makes a point that the USA needs almost 50 years to figure out: In this point communism makes woman and man equal, it doesn't divide races and so doesn't support racism. I think a lot of the people that posted before me should start reading about communism and not just believe what some people think or some poliiticans say and said. Just to clear my point I'm not saying that communism is the best typ of government ever, but I want to make clear that it is not as worse as some of you guys describe it. And last communism is not a form of socialism - it is a form of communalism and socialism is a stage before communism.
- People who want communism should be deported to Cuba ("Coooooba") or the PRK. Communism IS NOT an economic system. Socialism is an economic system and communists use undiluted, pure socialist economics-not the diluted socialism that democratic socialists use. Gypsy needs to get educated on political science (if she even knows what those words even mean). I would love to see her try to make it in one of the above countries. It's amazing how many people don't practice what they preach.
