Debt Problems

debt assistance vs. bankrupcy?

i know that both hurt your credit score but in the long run they will alleviate stress and allow me to get on track financially. i've heard that credit counseling can result in lots of extra fees from the company as well as the creditors. does anyone have experience and/or advice.

  1. Credit counseling can definitely involve added fees. No one is going to help you out of the goodness of their heart. OTOH, a bankruptcy attorney is also going to charge a fee. Credit counseling will appear on your credit report just like a bankruptcy will. In the end, you have to decide what will work better for you. Below is the link to a very good article (short) that will describe the differences for you. http://ezinearticles.com/?Bankruptcy-vs.-Credit-Counseling:-What-Should-I-Do?&id=39543
  2. The ones that consolidate your payments into one...have the fincance charges reduced or sometimes there is no longer a finance charge...I did use them..It helped....BUT they just sent me more credit cards when I had paid them off......So now I don't pay them off! I keep the credit cards I want paid up....
  3. although you have to pay for extra fees for a debt assistance but it's really worth it than filing for bankruptcy. you can save yourself and also your family from it.
