What happens to my debt if I move to Canada from the US?
Can I get some kind of assistance? I want to move to Canada, but have about $40,000 in debt...

- I can't imagine Canada is in such need of people that they have a government plan to help you pay debts to get you there. Most creditors don't care where you live...you still owe.
- Your debt, (just like your waistline), will follow you. Closely...
- In order to move to Canada, you need to show a proof that you have money in the bank. Last time i heard it was 10000 canadian dollar. I know that this is one of the required documents that they ask during the moving process...
- I don't know if moving to Canada will make any difference in the creditors ability to collect (I doubt it will). Moving does not effect what you owe. I doubt Canada will pay you to move there.
